To utilize the service, simply download the Ride On Flex app to book your ride. With no fixed stops or schedules, the Flex arrives when you make a reservation. Input your pickup and drop-off locations within the zone, and you will be presented with the next available time slot. Confirm the booking, proceed to your pickup location—a corner nearby.

The new 11-passenger Flex buses are wheelchair accessible and equipped with complimentary WiFi. The standard Ride On fare policy ensures your trip costs no more than $2.

How does Ride On Flex operate? Passengers heading in the same direction are grouped into a shared vehicle. By inputting your address through the app, we match you with a vehicle traveling your route. The Flex conveniently picks you up at a nearby corner and drops you off close to your destination.

Customers receive an accurate estimate of their pick-up time prior to booking and have real-time tracking capabilities within the app.

The number of passengers sharing a vehicle varies, with each bus accommodating up to 11 individuals. Up to 6 seats can be reserved per booking.

Flex can take you anywhere within your zone, which may include metro stations, shopping centers, offices, libraries, public facilities, or residences.

NOTICE: Boarding is only permitted with a reserved booking. Passengers will be asked for their name upon boarding. Payment is accepted via SmarTrip card, cash, passes, or tokens. SmarTrip card loading is unavailable on Flex; ensure sufficient fare balance on your card or use alternative payment methods. Wheelchair users benefit from curb-to-curb service at designated corners.

Ride On Flex is a pilot initiative by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation aimed at providing innovative on-demand transit. Plans to expand to additional county areas are underway as we assess customer usage patterns and feedback.
